pregnancy and post partum support

Our plan for a healthy pregnancy, health baby, and healthy postpartum:
First Trimester

This is a crucial time where both the woman’s body undergoes enormous change and the developing fetus experiences rapid growth. Acupuncture is beneficial during this time to help prevent miscarriages, decrease nausea/vomiting, increase energy level, reduce anxiety, and help sleep.

Weekly acupuncture treatments are recommended through week 12.

Second Trimester
During the second trimester, acupuncture can support both the mother during the continuing physical changes of pregnancy as well as assist the fetus’ s development. Acupuncture is beneficial during this time for sciatica/back/pelvic pain, insomnia, heartburn/indigestion, anxiety, and headaches.

Acupuncture treatments are recommended once or twice a month through week 32.

Third Trimester
During the third trimester, the baby’s bones fully develop, the eyes open, and the baby rapidly begins to gain weight. Acupuncture is beneficial during this time to help reduce swelling, reduce back/hip pain, help sleep, reduce anxiety, turn a breech position, increase energy, and help prepare the body for labor.

Weekly acupuncture treatments are recommended beginning at week 34-36 through week 40 to help prepare for labor. For breech presentation, acupuncture once or twice weekly beginning week 32 is recommended.

Postpartum
Acupuncture can greatly help increase milk production, prevent postpartum depression, increase energy, help balance hormones, and support the body’s healing after childbirth.

Acupuncture treatment frequency varies at this time based.
